Long Eaton United vs Racing Club Warwick
Northern Premier League – Midlands Division
05/04/2025 – 3pm KO – Grange Park, Family Only Stadium
The Blues return to the Family Only Stadium this Saturday as we host Racing Club Warwick in the Northern Premier League – Midlands Division.
We were in action last Saturday where we came out 5-2 winners away at Rugby Town and made it nine league wins on the bounce.
With only five games left of the season the boys will give it one last push as we look to cement our position in the play-offs and fight for second place.
The breakdown on Racing Club Warwick’s season so far:
The Racers are 11th in the league table with the play-offs now impossible and survival secured.
They are just one of the teams in a tightly contested mid-table scrap.
Racing Club have only won five of their 17 away games this season, whilst drawing three and losing nine.
The Racers had a challenging start to their campaign after losing five of their opening seven league games. The losses came against Boldmere St Michaels, Corby Town, Worcester City, Rugby Town and Quorn.
During this opening spell, Warwick did manage a 4-3 win over play-off chasing Sporting Khalsa. They found themselves 3-1 down at half-time, however second half goals from Greg Mills, Connor Taylor and Ben Edmunds meant that the Racers had completed a monumental turnaround.
Saturday’s visitors did suffer a surprise loss to struggling Lye Town on the 5th of October 2024 after failing to stage a comeback this time around.
Another heavy loss came about on the 19th of October of the same month after the Racers lost 5-0 to a Wellingborough Town side who have shocked people this season after only being promoted into this league last season.
Late October and November was a successful period for Racing Club after putting in some commanding wins. A 4-1 victory over Grantham Town was followed by a 1-0 win against Sutton Coldfield Town and that was backed up by a 5-1 win at home to AFC Rushden & Diamonds. Two weeks later, they would go onto beat us in the league also.
Their form since has lacked consistency, ultimately being the reason they find themselves mid-table. However, the Racers have showed glimpses and patches of what they are all about this season therefore Saturday will be a tough contest for the Blues.
Max McNulty is their man to watch after picking up 11 league goals so far. He is their top goal scorer also.
The Reverse Fixture:
We travelled to Townsend Meadow on Saturday the 30th of November 2024 to face Racing Club Warwick however were defeated 4-2.
Liam Loughlan opened the scoring for the Blues from a spectacular free kick, however we failed to retain a grip over the game from that moment.
Now a blue, Omotolani Omotola scored in the 45th minute to equalise the game for Warwick with them taking the lead in the 56th minute after a lobbed effort from far out by Ashley Sammons.
Max McNulty added a third for the Racers. Ruben Freeman was shown a red card in the 81st minute for the hosts with Andre Williams adding a fourth minutes later.
James Shaw bagged a goal back in the 91st minute for us however it was too late to get anything from the game.
Current Form:
There is a slight change for this piece of the preview this week as Quorn have regained top spot in the form guide.
We and the champions are only separated by only +2 goal difference as we sit second.
Of course, the Blues now have nine wins on the bounce. Crazy form!
Our past six wins have come against Bedworth United, Anstey Nomads, Shepshed Dynamo, Sutton Coldfield Town, Darlaston Town and Rugby Town.
We have scored 20 goals in those last six and conceded three.
Racing Club Warwick are currently ninth in the form guide, two places higher than where they sit in the league.
They have secured nine points from their last six games, beating Sutton Coldfield Town and Grantham Town back-to-back.
However, the Racers are winless in their past four, picking up draws against Lye Town, AFC Rushden & Diamonds and Shepshed Dynamo and losing 2-1 to Corby Town.
Brad speaks ahead of Saturday’s match:
“They beat us at their place and we need revenge. I say that with no jest in it, I want to right the wrongs of every result from the first half of the season.
“I want to go and better the no points that we took from Warwick at their place and I want to replace it with three I don’t want one.
“We need to keep chasing and all we can keep doing is chasing second, Corby won on Saturday, a good convincing win, the two sides outside of the play-offs both lost so we are one step closer to that.
“We just need to win games of football, we go there exactly ourselves, exactly how we like to do things, exactly how we operate and we try and take three points.”
Owen Betts on Racing Club Warwick fixture:
“We just need more of the same. I know we probably weren’t at our best on Saturday (vs Rugby Town) but we came here and won 5-2, so it is just more of the same on Saturday.”
