LONG EATON SILVER PRIZE BAND TO SING AT GRANGE PARK

LONG EATON SILVER PRIZE BAND TO SING AT GRANGE PARK

Rob McNeil16 Dec 2021 - 15:36

Long Eaton Silver Prize Band set to sing Christmas carols outside the Blues clubhouse for charity prior to this weekend’s first-team match.

This weekend sees the Blues take on Quorn AFC in our 19th league game of the season with only one week until Christmas Day.

To get all you Blues fans and any/all travelling fans into the Christmas spirit, Long Eaton Silver Prize Band will be situated outside the clubhouse at Grange Park singing Christmas carols on the day of the match.

Long Eaton Silver Prize Band is a friendly community-based brass band organisation, comprising of three groups – seniors, training, and beginners - totalling 88 players, which promotes and encourages live music within the borough of Erewash and the surrounding areas.

The band was founded in the 1860s as the Long Eaton Temperance Band, but the band left the temperance society in 1906 to reform as the Long Eaton Silver Band, adding Prize to its title after the band’s first contest success in 1908.

After over 150 years, their primary objective remains to encourage and provide opportunities for people of all ages to play or learn a musical instrument, targeting young and disadvantaged groups.

They raise musical and cultural awareness through a variety of local concerts, charitable events, and contests.

Thus, if possible, could the match attendees please give generously to the bands’ collection buckets, as all the money that is raised will be shared between ourselves and the band, with our share going to one of our fantastic local charities.

Any and all donations would be massively beneficial, and we would be thankful for the kindness and generosity showed by the people that donate.

We hope to see all you Blues fans down at the ground getting behind the squad and supporting your local club!
