An assured all-round performance from the Blues ensured they finished the match with all three points in their last home game of the season.
There were early signs that United hadn't learnt the lessons from the game against Westfields as the Sphinx threatened to go ahead from a set piece.
But on 14 minutes captain Paolo Piliero slotted the ball just out of the reach of Sphinx's Dutton, moments after both Rickford and Todd, and Piliero himself, were denied from close range.
Piliero almost added another minutes later as United started to assert their dominance on the match.
Availability issues meant that Graham and Campbell had to slot in at the back but both performed well. Graham in particular showed his versatility, proving he's equally adept at the back as he is down the wing with a number of important clearances and headers to deny the visitors. Mitchison too on 35 minutes pulled out a fantastic save to deny Sphinx's McGarrity, whose shot looked destined to go in.
The second half started nervy for the visitors but they soon pilled on the pressure.
A goal almost seemed inevitable for them until Shaun Rickford finished following a perfect delivery from deep from Campbell to double the lead.
From there the Coventry club tried in vain to get back into the game but looked deflated by United's second.
A clean sheet and an all-round great performance from United, who have now guaranteed their place in the Midland Premier Division for the 2017/18 season.
