With no game this Saturday, as it is FA Trophy weekend, we are next in action on Bank-Holiday-Monday with a trip to the Lincolnshire boarder to face Grantham Town , who have made a solid start to life back in step 4 following their promotion last season from the United Counties League Premier Division North, where they finished in 3rd place, and subsequently going on to beat Newark Town 2-0 in the play-off final in May.

The Gingerbreads are currently in 12th position in the early stages of the league season, having played 4 league games, wining once - at home to Loughborough Students (4-2) last midweek, drawing twice, against Coventry United & St Ives Town (both 1-1), and 1 defeat, against Rugby Borough, at home in the second game of the season, 1-0.

With defeat in the FA Trophy on Saturday to Mickleover, and a defeat in the Extra-Preliminary Round of the FA Cup to Lincoln United, in all, they have won 1 out of 6 games, and lost 3, scoring 7 goals in the process.

The Blues have struggled for results so far this season, winning just once, on the opening day at Leicester Nirvana in the FA Cup Extra Preliminary Round, but performances have generally been good, and last Tuesday's penalty shoot-out defeat to AFC Rushden & Diamonds typified our early season, with The Diamonds hanging on in the final minutes of extra-time, 1 cleared off the line, whilst Long Eaton also missed a second-half penalty, before eventually losing in the shoot-out lottery!

Grantham went through the whole of last season unbeaten at home in the league, winning 13 and drawing 6 of their 19 games, whilst in total, they lost just once (in the FA Cup) in 26 home games throughout 25/26, in stark contrast to 24/25, when they tasted victory just 4 times on home soil as they were relegated from the NPL Midlands Division 1.
