Long Eaton United beat Racing Club Warwick away from home in their first league game of 2026

Northern Premier League Midlands Division – 17/01/2026
Townsend Meadow, Warwick, Warwickshire

Match Report:
Long Eaton United beat Racing Club Warwick by two goals to nil away from home in their first league game of 2026.
Evan Garnett’s 21st and 22nd goals of the season were enough for The Blues to secure all three points and make it six unbeaten in the league.
Brad Munn made four changes to the starting XI that lost to Belper Town last Tuesday as Dexter Walters, Jahvan Davidson-Miller, Cieron Keane and Tristan Thompson-Matthews were in from the off.
Long Eaton United started the game brightly and were nearly in front in the eighth minute. Dexter Walters delivered a ball into the box from the right side and Evan Garnett managed to get a foot onto the cross, his effort forced Tom Allsopp into a smart low save which prevented the ball from finding the bottom right corner.
In a first-half where both sides showed glimpses of their quality, it was Munn’s side who broke the deadlock in the 41st minute.
Walters and Tristan Thompson-Matthews combined neatly on the right side of the box which allowed Walters to strike the ball at goal, however a Racing Club Warwick body was in the way to block. The ball then went high in the air and Garnett was there ready to volley the ball powerfully past Allsopp from around the penalty spot.
Long Eaton United took a one goal advantage into the half-time break.
Identically to the first half, The Blues were fast out of the blocks in the second period.
James Taylor rose highest to win an offensive header from not too far out, but it was too central and allowed Allsopp to gather with ease.
Jack Edwards had Racing Club Warwick’s best chance of the match to level the score in the 65th minute as his header hit the crossbar.
Then in the 79th minute, Garnett was on hand to score his 22nd goal of the season in all competitions.
It was Walters again who took it to Racing Club’s defence down the left side of the box and as he swung a pass across goal, Garnett was there to get enough contact on the ball to doubled Long Eaton’s lead.
The Blues striker came so close to a hat-trick only minutes after. James Taylor took a shot at goal and Allsopp could only spill the ball directly into the path of the nearby Garnett. He managed to get the shot off, however it went wide of the top right corner.
The Racers continued to push and Lewis King was forced into an unbelievable save with his fingertips as he palmed the ball over the bar from a deflected shot in the 86th minute.
Long Eaton United gained all three points and kept a clean sheet in the process.
The Blues are now unbeaten in their last six league games.
Up next, Carlton Town. What a cracker we have in store on Tuesday night!
