Bourne Town 3-3 Long Eaton United – 18/10/2025
Northern Premier League – Midlands Division
Abbey Lawn, Bourne, Lincolnshire
The cliche that is having a ‘game of two halves’ was in full force.
Bourne were 3-0 up at half time due to a brace from Robbie Ellis and a goal from Connor Furey in the 38th minute.
Some may have believed that the game was over there and then, however Brad Munn’s Blues had other ideas.
A goal from Jayden Cotterill in the 50th minute started the comeback and Jahvan Davidson-Miller’s header in the 56th added belief.
The comeback was complete in the 77th minute when Evan Garnett volleyed into the roof of the net.
The action did not stop there as Bourne Town missed a penalty in the 85th minute which put a cap on an action-packed afternoon of football.
A SIX-GOAL THRILLER AT ABBEY LAWN!
Long Eaton United began the day looking to make it three wins from three in the league.
Brad made one change to the side that beat Boldmere St.Michaels by three goals to nil at The Family Only Stadium on Tuesday night. Tristan Thompson-Matthews came into the starting XI to replace Connor Pace.
Bourne Town took the lead in the 22nd minute and it was Robbie Ellis who headed in his first of the afternoon.
Ellis had his and Bourne’s second in the 35th minute.
The Wakes had their third in the 38th minute when Connor Furey’s effort from the edge of the box deflected into the bottom right corner.
The Blues found themselves three goals down at the break with a mountain to climb in the second half. We did just that.
Our intent for the second half was displayed right from the off when Jayden Cotterill pulled a goal back. Cieron Keane had the ball down the right and delivered a beauty of a cross into the box where Cotterill was positioned to head the ball into the back of the net.
Jahvan Davidson-Miller scored his third goal in his last two games when he netted our second of the match. James Taylor’s cross from the right was headed in by a determined Jahvan.
It felt like only a matter of time before we would have our third.
We had just that in the 77th minute when Evan Garnett scored his fourth goal in his last four games. Another superb cross into the box by James Taylor was headed back across goal by Gianluca Bucci. Evan was the sharpest in the box to latch onto the end of it and volley into the roof of the net.
The action did not stop there however as Bourne Town were awarded a penalty in the 84th minute. It was dragged wide of the left post though and it is sure to say that sighs of relief were exhaled in the Long Eaton camp.
The Blues had a great chance to nick all three points in the closing stages of the match when Taylor went charging forward and hit a shot with his left foot in the box but the effort hit the right post.
The referee blew his whistle and brought the curtain down on which was a very entertaining 90 minutes of football.
There was brilliant character on display from Long Eaton United to come from three goals behind and earn a point away from home.
The Blues are next in action on Tuesday night when Anstey Nomads travel to The Family Only Stadium.
We look to make it four unbeaten in the league.
