Bourne Town vs Long Eaton United – Northern Premier League Midlands Division – 18/10/2025
Abbey Lawn, Bourne, Lincolnshire – 3:00pm KO
The Blues are looking to make it three wins from three on Saturday afternoon as we make the trip to Lincolnshire to face Bourne Town.
After back-to-back wins at The Family Only Stadium over Bedworth United and Boldmere St. Michaels, Brad Munn’s side will be wanting to keep the momentum up and look to shoot up the league table.
It is not just two wins, however, it was two commanding performances with four goals being scored and two clean sheets being worked for.
Winning two on the bounce and taking six points from a possible six has put The Blues in 13th position.
After having a rocky start to the season, Bourne Town seemed to have settled things down slightly as they are three games unbeaten in the league, however still sit 20th in the league table.
October has been a rather steady month for The Wakes (named after Hereward the Wake) as they have only lost one out of four league matches.
That singular defeat came at the start of the month as Bourne hosted Shepshed Dynamo, with The Dynamo being 3-1 winners. Sam Bayly’s goal in the 18th minute put Bourne in the lead however a Jude Collins brace and a second-half goal by Callum Burkey secured all three points for Shepshed.
Bourne Town responded just days after, when Basford United arrived at Abbey Lawn. It was their captain, Zacorie Allen, who stepped up in the 83rd minute to score the only and winning goal of the game.
Last Saturday, Bourne travelled to Rugby Borough and drew 1-1. Bradley Marshall scored for The Wakes in the 70th minute but Tendai Daire scored for Boro just three minutes after. Bourne travelled to AFC Rushden & Diamonds on Tuesday night and drew 0-0.
Therefore on Saturday afternoon, it is two sides who are both inform going all out for three points. It could be a cracker of an away day.
The Blues are back!
It is safe to say that Long Eaton United looked back at their best on Tuesday evening when a brace from Jahvan Davidson-Miller and a goal from Evan Garnett meant that we beat Boldmere St. Michaels 3-0.
We got to see Elliott Hartmann in the colours of black and blue for the first time and he did not disappoint. A solid performance at left-back both defensively and offensively.
Evan now has three goals in his last three appearances for The Blues and that is a worrying stat for any defence in the Northern Premier League – Midlands Division.
There are a lot of positives to take into Saturday’s league clash against Bourne Town.
Brad looks ahead to Bourne Town:
“Three from three. My thoughts are three from three. That’s not saying it is granted that we are going to go there and win but that’s what we have to go and do.”
“If they were top of the league I would be saying exactly the same thing to you, we have to go and win a game of football.”
“My thoughts are that we have to build on that, we have managed to preserve some of the players as well, not using everyone tonight. So if we can go into Saturday as prepared and fresh as possible, we have to only have one mindset and to win games of football and that is the only way you are going to succeed at anything in life not just football.”
Jahvan Davison-Miller previews Bourne clash:
“I am confident within myself to help the team. Hopefully, I get goals on the way as well but it’s about not taking the foot off the gas and just keep going forwards, in the forward direction, in that forward motion and just keep doing that.”
