Long Eaton United 1-0 Bedworth United - 11/10/2025
Northern Premier League – Midlands Division
Family Only Stadium, Long Eaton, Derbyshire
Evan Garnett’s 91st minute strike meant that all three points when to The Blues.
Brad made one change to the side that was defeated by Loughborough Students on Tuesday night as Coden Duncan replaced James Shaw.
There were only a handful of opportunities throughout the first half with our first chance falling to Dexter Walters.
The winger cut inside from the right so that the ball was on his left foot, however his shot curled over the bar.
Cieron Keane played a superb ball into the box in the 37th minute in which was met by the head of Evan Garnett. Evan’s header was caught by Will Highland, however this combination of Evan and Cieron would eventually strike.
The first-half finished and it was still goalless despite the Blues being the more dominant of the two sides.
Long Eaton came agonisingly close to taking the lead in the 60th minute when Gianluca Bucci had a header cleared off of the line and then Owen Betts watched his shot trickle past the left post in the same phase of play.
Bucci then came close to scoring a Robin van-Persie-esque volley. Keane floated the ball over the top to Bucci and he watched the ball come over his shoulder and sweetly struck his volley first time however Highland kept the ball out of the net.
Evan then stepped up in the 91st minute to deliver all three points to The Blues.
Keane stepped up to deliver the free-kick from the right. Deliver, he did.
It was a pin-point cross into the path of Evan who was in the right place to tap the ball into the back of the net and past Highland.
The crowd at The Family Only Stadium roared as the team set off celebrating towards the left corner flag.
Brad will be looking to make it from two-from-two at home this week as we host Boldmere St Michaels on Tuesday evening. We hope to see you there.
