Last Season’s Results:
On Saturday November 2, the Blues hosted Anstey at the Family Only Stadium. It was a game that featured goals with both sides scoring. Long Eaton came out victorious as they won 5-2 thanks to a James Shaw brace, James Taylor goal, Connor Pace, and a Conrad Logan own goal. The visitors did score two as Jacob Fenton – who is now at Belper Town – stuck twice for them.
The reverse fixture which took place on Saturday February 22 followed the same theme as the first. Long Eaton pumped five goals again against the Nomads, but they had no response that time. James Shaw and James Taylor both appeared on the scoresheet again, but Taylor got himself a brace whilst Shaw only got one with that being the opener. This time Liam Loughlan scored a brace with his first being a curling effort into the top right corner and the last being an injury time tap in.
Anstey Nomads goal scorers:
• Liam Murphy – Five goals
• Courey Grantham – Two goals
• Tendai Chitiza – Two goals
• Tristen Thomas – One goal
• Cosmas Matwasa – One goal
• Lewis Gibbons – One goal
• Josh Burniston – One goal
• Danny Gordon – One goal
Brad Munn looking to the game:
(When being asked how the boys can take the second half performance into the game against Anstey) “As I said, they got to believe in what they do. They’re a good side in what they do. And they don’t feel sorry for themselves and were playing against a side that certainly won’t feel sorry for us. So, they’ll be wanting to get their own back on us after us putting ten past them last year.
“It is going to be a very feisty, competitive and I think it will be a really good quality affair.
“But the main thing is, after the four loses it was important that we put a bit of a run together.
“We’ve gone unbeaten in three now, tow wins and today’s draw, so you’re going into to try and be four unbeaten.”
James Taylor speaking ahead of the game:
“I think even though we drew the game (speaking on the Bourne draw) we will go into that game (against Anstey) with full confidence.
“I think we did the double of them last season. I know they have strengthened and signed a few good players so it will be a great test for us against someone who is going to be up there at the end of the season and I have got a lot of respect for them, so, we know it is going to be a tough game, but on our home patch hopefully get the three points.”
