Long Eaton United 3-0 Shepshed Dynamo
Northern Premier League – Midlands Division – 19/08/2025
Family Only Stadium, Long Eaton, Derbyshire
Two goals from Tristan Thompson-Matthews and one from Dexter Walters ensured all three points went to Brad Munn’s side.
It is our second league win of the season after getting our points tally off the mark after last week’s win away at Mickleover.
We move up to sixth place in the league after last night’s win.
Brad made one change to the starting XI that began the Mickleover game as Jahvan Davidson-Miller started in place of Evan Garnett.
It was a tightly contested opening 20 minutes as the Blues looked to be patient on the ball and break down a solid Shepshed defensive shape.
We took the lead on the half-hour mark and Tristan had his first of the match. After a bit of fortune with the ball rebounding off Jahvan, Tristan ran onto the loose ball and did really well to prod the ball over the Shepshed keeper into the back of the net with his right foot.
James Shaw had a half-chance in the 39th minute with a header at the back post, however after an awkward bounce the keeper claimed the ball that looked like it was just about to tuck into the bottom left corner.
We went into the half-time break with a 1-0 lead.
Dexter had our second in the 54th minute and it is his fourth goal in three games. Tristan turned provider for this one as he switched the ball out to Dexter on the right. After a few step overs inside the box, Dexter unleashed a shot across goal and the ball found the bottom left corner.
Tristan had his second of the game and our third in the 67th minute. He picked up the ball on the edge of the box and showed brilliant agility to slide in between two Shepshed defenders. His finish wrong-footed the goalkeeper and found the bottom left corner. Tristan was loving it out there last night!
This was our third clean sheet on the bounce. In addition, we have scored eight goals in those three games. Perfect.
There is no game this Saturday, however you do not have to wait much longer until the Blues are back in action.
It is a bank holiday Monday fixture against Carlton Town up next for the Blues and it is taking place at the Family Only Stadium, what a bonus!
It is the place to be on Monday. The match is a 3:00pm kick-off.
We hope to see you there, YOU BLUES!
