Long Eaton United host Sporting Khalsa on Tuesday night (7:45pm KO) at Grange Park in a bid to return to winning ways in the Northern Premier League Midlands Division.
It is the penultimate game before Christmas for the Blues with two home games on the bounce before the 25th of December.
Brad Munn’s side face Wellingborough Town on the 21st of December at home (3pm KO).
But first we play Sporting Khalsa who currently take up sixth place in the league.
Long Eaton and Sporting Khalsa are currently on 31 points alongside Sutton Coldfield Town (eight in the league) meaning the race for a play-off spot is for sure on.
This is the first meeting between the two sides this season, with the reverse fixture taking place on the 19th of April. That could be a decider, the same thing could be said about Tuesday nights encounter.
Current Form:
Both sides have recently hit a dip in form over the past six games, something that Munn is aware of.
‘We have had a little stumble, we have had a little stumble in our form.’
‘They have had a similar slump to us, so both teams will be looking to get back on track.’
It is one win in six in the league for Long Eaton with the Blues beating Coventry Sphinx by a goal to nil on the 7th of December at Grange Park.
Defeats in the last six have come from Darlaston Town (1-0), Racing Club Warwick (4-2) and Loughborough Students (2-1).
A point from Saturday’s match away to Lye Town (1-1) and at home to Rugby Town on the 23rd of November (1-1), make up Long Eaton’s most recent form.
Sporting Khalsa have lost their last four games on the bounce in the league, these have come against Shepshed Dynamo (3-1), Loughborough Students (2-1), Anstey Nomads (2-1) and their most recent game against Wellingborough Town which finished 2-0 in their favour.
Khalsa’s only win in their last six came against Corby Town who currently occupy third place in the table. That game finished 4-0 and was away from home. The visitors should not be underestimated.
Munn’s words ahead of the game:
‘We need to get back to the basics and fundamentals of football to then allow us to play exactly how we normally do.’
Munn on Tuesday’s opposition: ‘I have got a lot of respect and appreciation for Khalsa and the manager, Rowey (Ian Rowe)’
‘It will be good to see him and it will be good to go up against him and his team.’
This fixture is set up to be a cracker folks with both sides going head-to-head for a play-off spot come the end of the season.
Grange Park, Tuesday 17th December 2024, 7:45pm KO. We hope to see you there. YOU BLUES!
