James Shaw netted the only goal of the first half moments before the half-time whistle.
Boldmere equalised through Jake Collins midway through the second half, although Connor Pace secured all three points for the Blues late on.
Brad Munn opted to make just two changes from the home draw at the weekend – Pace and Alans Voskresenskis both started in place of Danny Gordon and Ethan Hulley.
Long Eaton began the match on the front foot, and that was evident in the 8th minute when James Taylor and Owen Betts combined down the right, with the latter firing an effort into the side netting from a tight angle.
However, moments later, Theo Rowe forced Lewis King into a diving stop with a shot from the edge of the Blues’ box.
With 33 minutes on the clock, King was called into action once again to deny the hosts – Rowe struck from the edge of the area and King parried only as far as Collins, although the Long Eaton shot-stopper denied the forward a chance on goal.
Then, with seconds before half-time, Shaw etched the Blues in front with a neat strike from close. Ryan Campbell-Gordon’s driven cross beat the Mikes’ defence and allowed Shaw to simply guide the ball into the back of the net.
After 45 minutes, it was evident that the match was going to be a contest, so the second half looked to be interesting.
Oliver West and Rowe had shots saved by King in the opening five minutes of the second half to maintain the United lead.
Jonathan Brown was called into action in the 56th minute to deny Shaw a second goal with a neat save after a deflected shot from the edge of the area.
Minutes later, Taylor forced Brown into an incredible reaction save following a headed effort from close, and Jayden Cotterill could not quite divert the rebound.
But then, with 22 minutes left to play, Collins’ diving header brought the game level following a fantastic cross into the Blues’ box.
The Mikes’ lead however did not last long, as just four minutes later, Pace knocked the Blues back in front. Shaw found Voskresenskis who was able to play the ball into Pace on the edge of the area, and the midfielder superbly drilled a strike under the diving Brown.
Corey Cooper came close in the 77th minute with a deflected free kick that almost wrong-footed King, but the United shot-stopper reacted quickly to deny the fullback.
Then, with seconds left of the second half, Brown came up from his six-yard box to attack a corner, and the shot-stopper managed to get his head to the ball but could only find the roof of the net with his header.
United had secured victory as the final whistle blew, which took the Blues to seven games unbeaten in the league.
