Ian Deakin is looking forward to a local derby in the Northern Premier League as Long Eaton United make the short trip across Nottingham to the Bill Stokeld Stadium on Monday afternoon.
The Blues aim to make it two wins on the trot after their first league victory of the season on Saturday at home to North Shields.
The Opposition
Carlton Town sit 16th on three points after three matches played in the East Division. The Millers will hope to bounce back from Saturday’s 5-0 defeat away to Consett on Saturday as they host United in an exciting bank holiday Monday clash.
The Manager's Quotes
Deakin was delighted with Long Eaton United’s first win of the league season, The Blues’ boss said: “There’s nothing better than winning, any player will tell you that.
“I spoke to the lads after the game [on Saturday] and said ‘you probably could be sitting here on nine points but you’ve just not had the rub of the green; you’ve been playing well’.
“It was important for us to get three points under our belt, in terms of confidence it is massive, I think now they will kick on.
“I’m pleased for the players, they deserved it.
“There’s a unity [in the squad] and a belief that, whoever they come up against, they can get three points.”
Considering the team for Monday, Deakin hinted at players returning from injury. He added: “Hopefully at this point we have some players that are going to come back into the squad.”
Focused on the task at hand, Deakin said: “Local derbies are always filled with passion.
[We are] really looking forward to it and hopefully there will be a decent crowd there.
“I prefer the games coming thick and fast, especially when you’re in a good routine and there’s a bit of confidence in the dressing room.”
