Jamie Walker scored the opener after 24 minutes played. Keiran Walker's long throw-in was flicked on by Tom Marshall and headed in at the back post by Jamie to give the Blues the lead. Basford equalised in the 33rd minute and scored the winning goal in the 86th minute with a cross-shot from Ryan Wilson, which looped into the top corner.

Ian Deakin made several changes to the side that faced Kimberley Miners on Saturday. Sam Parker replaced Ryan Head at left back, while Brad Wilson, Danny Gordon and Jamie Walker came into the starting eleven.

Against a youthful Basford side, Long Eaton started on the front foot. Keiran Walker dragged an early attempt on goal wide after Tom Marshall's cross deflected back to the centre half.

The Blues continued their assault on the home defence down the right flank - Jamie Walker dribbled into the 18-yard box and cut the ball back to James Gale, whose shot was blocked at the source.

Several long throw-ins on the right side of the pitch from Keiran Walker threatened the Basford goal and eventually resulted in a goal for Jamie Walker in the 24th minute.

Basford reacted and began to press forward. Nine minutes later the home side found an equaliser from a free kick, which Sam Wilson parried to the feet of a Basford defender, who converted from point-blank range.

Another set piece in the final seconds of the first half pinballed around the Long Eaton box and ricocheted off the underside of the bar. Keiran Walker cleared the ball off the line and the referee signalled for half-time.

At the break Basford made 11 changes, and more first team players were called upon. As a result, the home team saw more possession of the ball in opening minutes of the second half and Sam Wilson was forced to make several saves.

In the 66th minute, Deakin looked to the bench and introduced Ryan Head, Ewan Head, Sachin Matharu, Ryan Bache, Andrew Tsolakis and Marley Fearon into the match.

Fearon almost made an instant impact, as he towered above the defence at a corner and thumped a header just wide of the target.

With four minutes left to play, Basford took the lead with a free kick played short to Ryan Wilson, who picked out the top corner from out wide to win the match.
