United continued their strong start to pre-season with a confident performance against East Midlands Counties side Arnold Town.

It was Steve Welsh’s first game at home and the first time a home crowd had seen the new look side.

There were a number of new faces in the squad - which is yet to be finalised - but there were some familiar ones too with Kameron Campbell, Matt Savage, Jake Wholey and Andy Todd featuring in the game.

For eagle eyed fans there was another familiar face among the opposition ranks, Ian Robinson, who along with Gary Sucharewycz, co-managed United last year.

United had a strong start to the match and dominated the visitors, who play one level below the Blues in the football pyramid.

One issue from last season was the lack of communication and characters in the squad but there were early signs that this is being addressed.

Both teams had penalty shouts in the first half but it was United who had the majority of chances.

They were just chances however, and there was a feeling that United's strikers would be frustrated by Arnold until moments before half-time when the deadlock was broken.

On 65 minutes the Blues doubled their lead and on 79 minutes it was 3-0 and all but game over.

Arnold did step it up a notch in the games dying moments and snatched a goal but never really threatened to take control of the game.
