Long Eaton finished off their preseason with a 1-0 reverse at home to Jack Lesters Nottm Foest u18s.

The first half was an even affair with forest having the best chance after 18 minutes, Shaun Rickford fouling in the box. The penalty was a tame effort however and the United keeper Low saved well to his left.

As the half went on the blues came more into it and Jermain Palmer had 2 great chances in as many minutes firing wide on both occasions.

Just before the half time break Forest created an opportunity down the left, the ball was crossed too long though and despite the Reds attacker controlling well the angle was against him and it was fired well wide.

The second half started with the blues composing well but was struggling to create anything in the way of goal scoring opportunities. Forest looked good on the break and Low did well in the 54th minute to palm away an effort from the left.

United kept going and had their best period between the 60th and 75th minute. The ball was firmly in the forest half but Manager Palmer would be upset that the ball wasn't played in at the right times. After that pressure it was Forest who dealt the killer blow.

After s host of changes for the home side under 19's keeper had to pick the ball out of the net. A long ball down the centre by Forest saw their striker through, united a keeper charged down but the ball ricocheted off the striker allowing him to place the ball into the net.

It was soft goal but the Blues had done well prior under the quick youngsters of Forest.

The last 15, United probed but could find their way through a stern forest defence.

A good challenge for United against a well composed side which will bear well for the season ahead.
