With just four matches left to play, The Blues will look to comeback from their disappointing draw against Selston and finish the season strong.
Last weekend Newark lost 3-0 to Sleaford Town away from home, which extended their losing streak to four matches. Newark have won two of their last six games and, in that six-match timeframe, conceded 21 goals.
Newark’s greatest goal threat is certainly the club’s captain Danny Meadows, the midfielder leads the way with 16 goals so far this season.
One of Newark’s latest signings Nyle Blake has also found form in recent weeks, with goals against Eastwood Community and Heather St. John’s.
Former Blue Mason Rowley will no doubt be on the lookout to score against his old club too. The defender scored from the penalty spot earlier in the season against Long Eaton for Quorn.
When Long Eaton United and Newark last met at Grange Park in October, The Blues won 3-0 courtesy of a brace from Romaine Graham and a goal from Mitchell Robinson.
Managers Quotes:
Looking ahead to this weekend’s match, Ian Deakin said: “We will dust ourselves down, train Tuesday and Thursday and hopefully get back on track this weekend.
“With four games left, you have to go and try to win them all now. The league is played over 34 games, not 29, they have to see it through.”
Acknowledging last weekend’s draw, Deakin added: “They will bounce back I am sure, there will be some changes this week because I won’t accept some of the performances from the players last week.
“Tuesday we were running, we went back to our hard work – that is not a kneejerk reaction, I just felt that the fitness levels weren’t there. It is my job to keep the levels up and make sure they are up for it at the weekend.”
