Long Eaton United lost 3-2 during the week but will be in good spirits despite the defeat. Ian Deakin’s side missed out on a potential penalty shootout by 40 seconds after Danny Glover scored in injury time to win the match for Step Three side Hednesford Town.
Gresley Rovers continued their undefeated start to the MFL season with a 2-1 win against Walsall Wood last weekend. The Moatmen led by a goal to nil at the break courtesy of Paul Sullivan. Walsall drew level through John Atherton, only until Daniel Munday scored the match-winner for Gresley in the 94th minute.
Managers Quotes:
It is business as usual for heading into this weekend’s match, explained Deakin: “Every game we go into, like you saw against Hednesford Town, we try and win it. We try to play our way, an attacking way, and I think we will be doing the same again on Saturday.
“It is another game, hopefully, you know with everything that is going on in the world at the minute, we are not sure week to week if the game will be on but we will prepare and we will be in Thursday training.
“Any knocks and injuries will be looked after, and we will go to Gresley on Saturday in a strong frame of mind again. They can take a lot of heart from that performance [against Hednesford], but we are looking forward to Saturday’s game now.”
