PRESENTATION AWARDS EVENING 25/26

PRESENTATION AWARDS EVENING 25/26

Richard Gadsby27 Apr - 22:06

Players, fans and volunteers come together to toast a solid season at Grange Park

We held our Annual Awards Evening on Saturday, following our first teams excellent 2-0 success over Basford United.

Firstly, our Chairman Mr Nick Dargan, made a brief introduction to the crowd, which included a good number of supporters who stayed behind after the game, along with the players, staff and club volunteers, recognising all the hard work which not only goes off on the pitch, but just as importantly behind the scenes, with all the hard work and dedication a large number of volunteers and staff do on a frequent basis to ensure things run smoothly on a Saturday afternoon.

Nick himself, then handed the first award of the evening - The Chairman's Player Of The Season 25/26 - This was awarded to James Taylor, who had earlier opened the scoring for The Blues in the afternoon. 'JT' as he is affectionately known, has come through the various junior ranks at the club, all the way through to first team level, and after a short spell away, re-joined the club last season. His contribution to the team, his commitment and eagerness to do the best he can was recognised by Mr Dargan as he collected his award.

No sooner had JT sat down, he was already getting back to his feet to collect his next award, which was from the teams backroom staff, who jointly chose Taylor as the winner of their award for 25/26. JT's versatility on the pitch had stood out as another reason for being chosen.

The next award, was no secret at all. The leading goalscorer award was handed to Evan Garnett, who contributed an outstanding 29 goals throughout the season, and with 26 of those in the league, he was the leading marksman in the NPL Midlands Division, and overall at Step 4 level, just 1 player in the whole of the level had managed to score more than him.

The Supporters then had their moment, with Blues fan Bill Rhodes announcing the winner of the Blue Army award. The trophy, along with a cash sum was paid for by a number of contributions from supporters. Bill announced that 3 players had largely received the bulk of the votes, with Garnett in third place, JT second, and Owen Betts had come out on top.
Betts thanked the supporters for their continued backing of the team throughout the season upon receiving his award.

The Managers Player Award for 25/26 was handed to Evan Garnett, with boss Brad Munn making a point, that without Garnett's goals, we may just have been in some bother this season.

The final award was the Player's Player Award - voted by the players themselves. In reverse order, Owen Betts came third, Lewis King second, whilst James Taylor grabbed his third award of a productive evening.

Thank you to everyone who stayed behind for the presentation.
