The new signing is local to Derbyshire and looks forward to being involved at Grange Park. Cox said: “With me being from Ilkeston it always helps that Long Eaton is a local club. I’ve seen the quality that the team has and what they’ve achieved in the last year, it’s a great squad to join.

“I know a few of the lads here (James Taylor, Alex Marshall and Tom Marshall) and followed the team closely last year. It’s a great setup here and I'm excited to be involved.”

Considering his ambitions at Long Eaton, Cox added: “My main goal for the season is to help the team keep as many clean sheets and pick up as many points as possible and do that by giving everything I have every minute that I’m on the pitch.”

Cox gained experience at Step Three with Redditch United and Step Four with Chasetown last season. "I think that, although I’m young, I do bring experience to the team from my time at Sheffield Wednesday as well as playing in and around this league last year,” Cox said: “I think the qualities I bring are my aerial ability, as well as being mobile and quick for my height.”
