The versatile midfielder has a vast amount of experience having been a part of the Fleetwood Town team alongside Jamie Vardy during their meteoric rise, and then subsequently making over 100 appearances for Mansfield Town.
McGuire has more recently gained some game time playing for Boston United and AFC Mansfield, but as of late he has been out of action due to coaching at Mansfield Town first-team and academy, as well as wanting to spend time with his family.
The former Stags captain has however recently been looking for a club in which he can demonstrate his qualities and help rise up the ranks.
When asked about the reasons surrounding his arrival, McGuire said: “Long Eaton are in a really great place right now with the squad that Deaks has assembled, and I know Ben [Hutchinson] and Deaks really well, from when we played together at Mansfield Town for a couple of seasons.
“I have been looking to get back in - Deaks approached me at the start of the season along with various other clubs and in the last couple of weeks we spoke about it again. Deaks explained that he wanted me to help get matches over the line, as we are at that stage of the season now.
“I’m unsure yet as to whether I will play at the weekend, that is a conversation for me and Deaks to have, I know Long Eaton have a young competitive squad but if he needs me to play then I am 100% ready.”
First-Team manager Ian Deakin has a very good understanding of McGuire’s qualities, having played with and worked alongside the midfielder at the Stags for several years.
With that understanding in mind, Deakin was delighted to bring such an experienced player into the club, he said: “I am very pleased to welcome Jamie [McGuire] to the club, he brings a wealth of experience with him, as well as a fantastic understanding of the game on and off the pitch.
“I know him well being ex-teammates at Mansfield Town and I know what he can bring to the table – he is a natural leader and winner, so I am delighted to welcome him into the squad.”
McGuire will no doubt be a huge part of the squad going forward and he will aim to make a big impact during his first competitive fixture for the Blues.
Five matches remain for the Blues in the 2021/22 season, so it is vital that we do not put a foot wrong as we aim to hold onto the top spot in the United Counties League Premier Division North.
