During his 20 years as a partner at Deloittes, Nick was responsible for assisting and advising a whole range of businesses and helping them enhance and develop their performance. As well as acting as Administrator to the likes of Woolworths, Waterford Wedgewood, Carter & Carter and Mayflower PLC, he also did substantial work in the world of football finance. He acted as the Administrator of ITV Digital, conducting their negotiations with the Football League and went on to administer the affairs of Leicester City, successfully concluding the sale of the football club, before moving on to restructure the financial affairs of Ipswich Town as well as a number of other high profile professional football Clubs.
Nick has been involved with Long Eaton United for the last 4 years since his son Zak joined our Youth Section and has managed our U9’s and U10’s over the last 2 seasons. He is now preparing that team in their move from mini soccer to the 11 aside game.
Nick said, “I look forward to supporting Jim and the management team generally in their ambitions for the Football Club and in developing the activities of the Youth section more specifically. In my time at the Club I have met some extremely hard-working, highly enthusiastic individuals; players, managers, coaches and parents alike and I see some real benefits in co-ordinating the ideas and enthusiasm of that Group”
He added “In my time at the Club, the respective teams have tended to operate independently of each other. By harnessing the efforts, ideas and enthusiasm of the whole Group, I have the vision that Long Eaton United’s Youth Section can become the most admired in the Region and become the Club of choice for players, parents and coaches alike. I would like all our Youth players at all levels to enjoy excellent facilities, access quality coaching and enable them to develop to their full potential whilst having fun, in a safe and respectful environment”
One of Nick’s first priorities will be to help regain our FA Charter Standard Club Status.
Jim Fairley said "The Club's Committee has always been strained over the last few years and we have come under critisism for not having more members. However we have been stubborn in the fact that we want the right people and I'm delighted Nick has joined the team in a capacity which I see as a high priority. We have already had a very positive Club meeting and Nick has identified areas for improvement which over the course of time will be incorporated in our vision for the future of our younger players and the whole of Long Eaton Utd."
The Club will be making an announcement soon with a former professional player and manager joining the Club.
