Durrant is a fantastic shot-stopper - well known for his match winning saves, which is evident through his title-winning season with Ilkeston Town.
The 27-year-old will be a valuable asset to Ian Deakin’s squad with the experience of Nottingham Forest U21s, Ilkeston, Mickleover, Boston United, NF United, Alfreton Town, Matlock Town and Belper Town all behind him.
Discussing the reasons behind Durrant’s arrival, Deakin said: “Well, for a keeper of that calibre - he has obviously won this league with Ilkeston [Town], he was at Nottingham Forest as a youngster and he has got real pedigree - it was a no brainer really.
“He offers some competition in that place and I think that’s the position that you look at and wonder who is going to play that position all year - it’s a key time now as we move closer to the end of the season, where injuries could happen.
“But just in general I think that Ross has got real experience, good leadership skills and is just a brilliant goalkeeper, so along with Sam [Wilson] we now have two really good goalkeeper’s at the club.
“It is up to the two goalkeeper’s now to battle it out and get the best out of each other - of course, Sam [Wilson] has got the shirt at the minute, but again, when a player like that becomes available you have to act, especially when you look ahead and are not just thinking about this season but next season as well.”
Identifying Ross’ experience as a huge beneficiary, Deakin added: “You look at what he has achieved as a goalkeeper - he is still a youngish goalkeeper, but has a vast amount of experience that will benefit some of the younger players in the squad.
“Hopefully, Ross and Sam will become a little GK union and push each other to the max - he has been there and done it before, and overall he just adds real value to our squad.”
