Academy quartet sign first-team papers

Academy quartet sign first-team papers

Bradley White2 Aug 2024 - 17:49

(Pictured left to right) Oliver Mercer, Ben Bowers, Prestyn Moore and Alans Voskresenskis have been added to Brad Munn's first-team squad.

The quartet featured in our U21s double-winning campaign last season and have impressed the gaffer so far in pre-season.

Commenting on the prospects, first-team manager Brad Munn said: “I am extremely pleased with the four more current and former academy products that have signed first-team forms with us today.

"For the club it shows a true pathway for opportunity not only with the first team at Long Eaton but the clubs we have built relationships with locally.

"These players will all continue to train with us whilst gaining valuable men’s footballing experience duel registered with clubs elsewhere in the footballing pyramid.

"I truly believe this is a far more effective way to help these young players develop and find their feet in men’s non league football having the best of both worlds and experiencing different levels and set ups whilst being heavily involved in ours as much as possible.

"Alans is currently with Stapleford Town where they are looked after by an extremely impressive manager and coach in Tris Whitman who is getting the best out of his group weekly.

"Prestyn is dual- registered with Sandiacre Town, where he spent a small spell at the back end of last season and had a real positive effect on their side.

"Ben Bowers had the opportunity to come in and do pre-season with us after captaining a successful U21s campaign with the club and we are currently exploring options to find the right place for his next steps.

"And finally Oliver Mercer really impressed after training with us over the summer months. His character has started to come out and he has shown some real promise. We will internally look to see what is the best next step with Ollie and put it in motion asap."

Munn added: "All player we feel have potentially good futures with the club and we think this is a real positive for the players, club and local community football.

"Well done to all and pleased to have you part of what we are building.”
