Manor 4th (2) v Long Eaton United A (2) - 30/01/2010
Having waited over a month since their last game due to the Christmas break and adverse weather conditions, the U9's travelled to Mansfield to take on high flying Manor 4th.
With new signings Jazz, Finlay and Tomas added to the squad, the U9's were raring to go and soon exerted strong pressure on the Mansfield side. The away side were rewarded when Benedict ran onto a through ball and coolly slotted the ball past the on-coming goal-keeper to take a well deserved lead. The U9's then went further ahead when Zak picked up a loose ball and hit a cracking shot past the Manor 4th keeper to take a well deserved 2-0 lead at half-time.
The home side had the benefit of the slope in the second half and put the U9's under real pressure restricting Long Eaton to the occasional counter attack. The pressure told mid-way through the half when Manor 4th pulled a goal back and then continued to press forwards.
Despite some excellent defending from the away side, with minutes to go, LEU succumbed to the pressure and Manor 4th equalised to take a 2-2 draw.
An excellent peformance by both teams and a true game of "two halves" !!
