Long Eaton United (1) v Manor 4th (2) - 12/12/2009

A great game of football ended with the U9's being narrowly beaten by Mansfield's Manor 4th in the last minute of the game.

In an excellent contest, with both sides playing open, passing football, Long Eaton took the lead midway through the first half with a superb volley from Jay. Just before half time though, the home team failed to clear a Manor 4th corner resulting in an equaliser for the third placed Mansfield side.

The second half continued to be an open game with Long Eaton creating a number of opportunities to take the lead.

However, as the referee looked at his watch, Manor 4th pushed forward one last time, Long Eaton struggled to clear and the ball bounced agonisingly over the line resulting in a cruel 2-1 defeat for Long Eaton.

Once again the home team was left disappointed but partially consoled by the quality of their performance and the general view that they deserved at least a draw from the game.
