U11's Match Report: Pelican Colts v Long Eaton United A 28/09/08
28th September, 2008 Pelican Colts 7 v 1 Long Eaton United A Starting Line-Up: Nathan (Goal Keeper) George, Ashley, Connor & Fin (Defence) Ben (C), Henry & Owen (Midfield) Leon (Left Wing/midfield) Samuel (Right Wing/midfield) Euan (Striker) Kyle (Subs) This was Long Eaton’s second away match of the season. The game kicked-off and the early signs were good for Long Eaton, matching the Pelicans and they were unlucky not to get the early goal that would have provided a much needed confidence boost. With Long Eaton unable to get that first goal, the Pelicans pushed and got the breakthrough on six minutes. This was a blow for the boys who had matched the Pelicans till this point. Long Eaton worked hard to battle back but the pelicans scored four more goals before halftime. Half time score 5 v 0. During halftime, the Long Eaton manager changed things round in midfield and you could see the difference immediately with Long Eaton getting more of the possession. Long Eaton were having their best period of the game, Owen playing some great balls through for Samuel to chase. It was fourteen minutes after the break before the next goal was scored and unfortunately it went to the Pelicans. Long Eaton continued to threaten and it was from one of those well delivered passes from Owen that produced a well executed goal by Samuel, latching onto the ball and driving over the oncoming keepers head. Long Eaton were unable to add any further goals and Pelicans scored once more before the final whistle. Final Score 7 v 1. In summary, another disappointing result for the boys who did not deserve to lose by that score.
