Stamford edge past Long Eaton United in an end-to-end match at Grange Park.

William Glennon gave the visitors an early advantage but it was short lived as Joseph Nyahwema equalised with his first goal for The Blues just moments later. Although in the second half former Blue Jack Duffy restored Stamford's lead and Lee Shaw wrapped the win up in added time.

Brad Munn and Lewis McGugan made four changes to the starting line-up ahead of the match. Nicholas Aretzis was handed a debut in defence while Callum Cocks made his return at right back. In midfield Lincoln City loanee Morgan Worsfold-Gregg started alongside George Atwal.

The match began with a great intensity to it. A high-press from Long Eaton almost immediately paid dividends when Cieron Keane won the ball in the final third, Tom Hewlett swooped in, took the ball in his stride and shot but Michael Duggan was equal to the effort.

However, at the other end of the pitch, a flurry of corners resulted in an early lead for the visitors. Harry Vince swung the ball into the danger area, a delivery that caused chaos for the defence and was knocked in by Glennon.

Hewlett had another chance to score as he cut in from out wide but the acute angle got the better of him and the shot bobbled past the far post and out of play for a goal kick.

The Blues attacked down the right side once again and a deep cross from Callum Cocks invited the finishing touch from Nyahwema who brought the match level just four minutes after they had fallen behind.

Stamford’s corner tally continued to increase as the half went on but they could not trouble Durrant for a second time.

Jack Rogers almost caught Duggan off his line with an ambitious strike from range, the ball dipped late but the Stamford shot-stopper backpedaled and tipped the effort over the bar.

As the half came to a close Lee Shaw had a chance to restore Stamford’s lead although the forwards shot was bravely blocked by Worsfold-Gregg and Durrant was on his toes to push the rebound wide of the goal.

The Blues had a strong start to the second half but former Long Eaton United man Duffy restored Stamford's lead in the 70th minute.

Hewlett had another chance moments later from 18-yards out but Duggan made another excellent save to maintain his side's lead.

Shaw then made it three in added time, lobbing Durrant from out wide with an audacious finish from out wide.
