Long Eaton United were forced to settle for their first home point of the season after a late equaliser from Kelvin Langmead.

Kettering Town took the lead in the 11th minute but shortly after half-time Ryley Reynolds leveled the match. James Spruce came off the bench and fired The Blues in front but Langmeads 96th minute equaliser salvaged a point for the visitors.

There was yet more drama in the 99th minute as Reynolds and Stewart O'Shane received their second yellow cards for a clash off the ball, which saw both sides reduced to ten-men just moments before the last kick of the game.

Brad Munn and Lewis McGugan made four changes as the team returned from a week-long break in the fixture schedule. Nathan Tyson, Ryan Campbell-Gordon and Harvey Ridgley made their debuts while Nathan Whitehead returned to the starting eleven.

Long Eaton United had a great start to the match but that soon came crashing down in the 11th minute. Kelvin Langmead headed a Kettering corner back across goal and Laithwaite nodded the ball over the line from point-blank range.

The goal gave the visitors a momentary lift but United were soon back on the attack in the Kettering final third.

Joseph Nyahwema looked lively and his cross-cum-shot almost crept in at the near post but Kettering goalkeeper Joshua Blunkell claimed the effort with the assistance of the woodwork.

At the other end of the pitch, Rhys Sharpe had a great opportunity to double the visitors’ advantage — O’Shane’s cut back found The Poppies captain at the far post but his first-time effort was fired over the crossbar.

In search of a reply Ryley Reynolds took matters into his own hands, broke through the Kettering defence and took aim but could only find the side-netting.

Moments later Reynolds had another chance to equalise. The Notts County loanee brought down Nyahwema’s cross with a fantastic touch but his shot was sensationally cleared off the line by Lewis White and denied what looked like a certain goal in the run up to the break.

Less than ten minutes after the restart Reynolds found his goal and brought the match level. Jebbison's pass cut the Kettering defence wide open, and through on goal Reynolds took the ball around the keeper and slotted it into an empty net.

Jebbison should have scored a goal of his own when Tyson dribbled to the byline and squared the ball for the Canadian winger to strike into the roof of the net but the linesmen adjudged Tyson to have ran the ball out of play and the goal was chalked off.

Spruce came off the bench and immediately added to United's firepower in the 70th minute. Spruce's impact was almost instant as he forced Blunkell to make an outstanding save several minutes after he entered the pitch. Moments later, Spruce fired Long Eaton in front as he linked up with second-half substitute Zayn Hakeem and knocked the ball past the Kettering keeper for his first goal at the club.

As the match came to a close, the visitors piled the pressure on and forced Long Eaton deeper and deeper into their own half. Then, in the 96th minute Langmead bundled the ball over the line after a long throw-in from Sharpe dropped to the feet of the experienced centre-half.
