This weekend Hertfordshire based Royston Town become the next SFL side to visit Grange Park to face Brad Munn and Lewis McGugan’s Blues.

Long Eaton United head into this match still in search of their first league points, after walking away from the FCS Stadium on Tuesday evening with a 2-1 defeat to Nuneaton Borough.

Alex LaFleur opened the scoring for Boro with a driven strike midway through the first half to give the hosts a one goal advantage going into the break.

The Blues equalised through Kameron Campbell not long after the restart, but Matt Stenson nodded home Boro’s second moments later to secure Nuneaton all three points.

The Opposition –

Royston make the lengthy journey up to Grange Park after picking up their first league point on Tuesday evening against Stamford AFC at Garden Walk.

With the game goalless at the break, both sides pushed with endeavour in the second half to get the opener, and it was Stamford’s Rob Morgan that netted the breakthrough.

However, in the 85th minute Oluwajuwon Akintunde equalised for the Crows and secured the Hertfordshire based side their first point of the 2023/24 season.

Previous Meeting’s –

Given the 100+ mile distance between the two sides, and the recent geographical competitive differences – with the Blues predominantly northern based, and the Crows predominantly southern based – the sides have never faced each other in a competitive fixture.

Thus, Royston Town will visit Grange Park and face the Blues for the first time in the history of both football clubs.

Looking ahead to the first meeting between the Blues and the Crows, joint Blues boss Brad Munn said: “With the positives we saw against Nuneaton, we did not see them in the first two games, not when we watched against Leamington, or when we took charge against Hitchin [Town], so at least we are having an impact and seeing things change.

“The lads are starting to understand a bit more, and the way me and Lewis like to play is slowly coming through, so once we get those few more reinforcements through the door we will get this league campaign up and running.

“As performances start to improve and the team continues to build, we can then start to look forward to each game as much as we are doing anyway – we respect every team, so we will of course go out there looking for three points – but ultimately, soon enough we will properly kickstart this league campaign.”

Card payments are preferred and accepted at the bar, at the kitchen and for entry into Grange Park – although, cash payments are still accepted!

Car parking is available at the ground and is free, but is of course subject to availability, although there is ample parking available in the surrounding area.
