I seem to remember the story of a Christmas Carol that when the third ghost visited Scrooge and showed Christmas yet to come and was taken to Hell. There he was given the only freezing cold cell in the place to match his cold hart. It felt then that this might of come true at Grange for the last two nights as we stood in the freezing cold to watch the football. The only reason we knew that it wasn't hell was he great standard of football straight out of the heaven store. Do not take it from me that it was cold ask Jack Harvey who spent most of the game telling me so.
We started well but the first chance came for Borrowash as they got a Free kick on the corner of our area But Gibbon was up to it and kept it out. I was then our turn as Duerdon got Wright away who run it into the box and slotted it home only to be called offside by the assistant not for the first time was he to make some strange decisions.
On about 10 minuets piliero got one through to Groves he was then able to carry it into the box and score a great goal. They seemed to give us all the space we needed in the center on the park so we were able to get Groves through a lot but time after time we were caught offside or faced a good goalie in Harvey who was determined to impress on his return to Grange.
We also had some success on the flanks as Wright got the ball to the bi-line and put it over to Groves who flufed his shot and sent it wide though alof a sudden Wright run in and somehow got his foot to it and sent it back only to see it only just clear the bar.
There then came he strangest incident as Wilson got Wright away he run into the area and Harvey came running out and got him in the chin I thought it was a sure penalty and thought the ref had pointed to the spot but once again the assistant had seen an offside so Wright received extensive treatment for no result. does a foul after the offside is called relay go un-checked? Wright never did recover from the challenge and had to be replaced on 33. They did have some chances but seemed to always put it wide or over.
We then had a go at lifting the goal out of the ground as Campbell found Wilson about six yards outside the box he tried to run in but was brought down, Wheat took the resulting free kick which he hit with such force it smacked into the underside of the bar but unfortunately bounced down on to the pitch finding four of us willing players to tap it in but once again the assistant called offside and all was pointless.
Half time then we lead one nill.
At Half time i went into the the club house to warm up and i saw Mark Harvey sitting there i was a little shocked and couldn't believe it was him so when he nodded in my direction i was a bit confused. I doubt if you are reading this Mark but if you are i didn't mean to snub you. It was then i realized where i had seem the Keeper before. At Half time Wilson had to come off due to a recurring Hamstring problem to be replaced by Bowles.
They started the Second half well and put us under a bit of pressure but hen on 50 Duerdon got a god ball through to Bryant who run it through and hit the by-line he put it over but a bit too far behind Smith but he was not going to give in and recovered the situation getting the ball under control and turning and scoring.
Both teams had some chances they split our defense apart and got through on goal with acres of space but some great work from Campbell got back at him and prevented him from doing any damage. We then had a number of chances but were faced by an on form Harvey who pulled off some good saves to keep them in the game. At one point Bryant got the ball outside the box and getting it under control was deciding what to do with it when one of his team mates shouted “shoot if you want” he did but once again found an in form Harvey.
On about 70 Bowles was brought down just outside the area and Duerdon steeped up to take the free kick, i didn't actually see it as i was talking to Thurman at the time but it cleared the wall going into the top right hand corner giving Harvey no chance.
Of cause the last Minuit they get the obligingly free kick just outside the box. It brought great save from Gibbon but he was no able to stop it going to Sanwick who taped it in for a consolation goal.

For What it is Worth.
Not many chances in the game though they seemed t have no concept of central defense giving our forwards all the space they needed in the middle of the park. It would have been a higher score if it wasn't for the trigger happy Asistent calling off side time and time again. Chances any one did have then was down to the skill of both keepers to keep it out and Gibbon came out just on top in that one.
One funny point for me was when i was standing behind the goal with my flag a man passed me with his dog, i think he thought he was being clever having seen me there a few times “Have you got a season ticket” he asked in jest “well actually i have” i replied.
Ps for many reasons i have had to rush this report so it may not be t my usual standard but then again have i relay got a standard though i was hartend by the fact apparently for the first time i havn't got any of the ladies names wrong in there report last time.
