Despite a night of heavy rain the playing surface had survived and Long eaton readied themselves for hosting Carlton Town, a side they had seen off 2-1 in the away leg only 7 days ealier.

It had been a tough few weeks for the Long Eaton boys. Beaten by Priory Celtic, beaten by Hucknall Rolls and beaten by Hucknall Sports. All tough fixtures, but this is a tough league.

This week saw one of the league's early pace setters visit Long Eaton United, a side that were unbeaten so far.

Here was a game that was full of drama and incident, from start to finish, a game that had fans, onlookers and team managers biting their nails.

This game was many things but most of all a fantastic advert for the Young Elizabeathan U-9’s league.

Long Eaton went to Aslockton this weekend and whilst they came away with 3 points and another clean sheet, the match was far from plain sailing.
